The Wonder Wasp originated as a hobby project that was intended for recreational use. However, when [[Jody Summer]] began racing, John Tanaka applied heavy modifications to the machine to make it fit for the races. Although it being a homemade machine has brought doubts, he was very thorough about what parts he used. The result is a small lightweight machine capable of powerful boosts (thus, it should stay away from other racers).
