Phoenix is a space detective from the 29th-century, who makes his first appearance in the arcade game F-Zero AX, and later appears in the console game F-Zero GX.

Known mainly as Phoenix, he is a space detective that hails from the 29th century. As part of the Space Time Police / Time Patrol, one of his duties is protecting the timeline from criminals who are known to escape into the past or future to do damage. Besides his duties, he restored the discarded QQQ to be his partner, and even designed QQQ's machine, the Rolling Turtle.

He traveled to the era of the F-Zero races to enter the Grand Prix in order to stop a criminal that was going to cause an event that could have drastic consequences on the future. In order to prepare, he received training from a 20th-century racer and reduced his time machine's functionality to be comparable to other machines of the time period.

Despite his mission, he has made it no secret that he is from the future and that he has a mission, though as part of his duties he can't reveal information on the future.

After his work is finished, he intends to travel to the 32nd century to track down a different criminal.

  • Phoenix shares some similarities with Captain Falcon:
    • Both wear similar attire and capture criminals.
    • Phoenix's pose also resembles Captain Falcon's.
    • Due to being from the Future, it is unknown if Phoenix is related to Captain Falcon in any way.
    • One of his F-Zero TV interview answers mentions a famous racer from the 20th Century teaching him all of his secrets. However, F-Zero GX takes place in around the 26th Century, and Captain Falcon couldn't possibly live that long naturally. It is possible that this is one of Captain Falcon's ancestors Phoenix is mentioning or referring to.
